What the four thresholds check.

Crawlability
Whether search engines can reach the page at all: HTTP status, robots.txt rules, a sitemap and the length of any redirect chain.

Indexing
Whether Google is allowed and willing to keep the page: noindex tags, the canonical address and the declared language.

Topic match
Whether the page tells search engines what it is about: title and description length, a single H1 and structured data.

Clicks
Whether a result that appears gets chosen: mobile performance and load time from Google PageSpeed Insights, and a share image.

It is free and there is no sign-up. Enter an address, run the check and the result appears on screen. An email or phone number is not required to see it. If you want to talk about the result there is an optional form underneath, but you do not have to use it. We do not store the address you enter.
Because a page has to pass them in order to appear in search. Most sites that struggle are stuck at crawling or indexing, yet the budget goes into keywords, which is the third step. A speed score alone only shows part of the fourth.
Yes. Use “Compare with a competitor” under the address field and add a second address. Both sites are measured at the same time under the same conditions and shown side by side. A single score says little; the gap to the site you compete with shows where to invest.
The performance scores come from the Google PageSpeed Insights API, so they are Google’s own measurement rather than our interpretation. The threshold checks look at the page’s real HTML, robots.txt and sitemap. Lab scores move by a few points between runs; the threshold results do not.
Google indexes the mobile version first and ranks on it. The desktop score is almost always higher than mobile, so mobile is where problems show.
No. The check shows whether a page is technically able to rank. Whether it does also depends on content, competition and authority, which no single-page check can measure.
