llms.txt is not enough on its own
When AI tools recommend a business they look beyond the site’s files: whether pages can be read without JavaScript, structured data, whether robots.txt blocks their crawlers and how the business is mentioned elsewhere. llms.txt is one part of that picture.
Check whether your site is open to AI crawlers with the website checker, and see how we approach it on our AI SEO page.
Common questions
llms.txt is a Markdown file at the root of a site that tells AI tools what the site is and which pages matter. Under the llmstxt.org proposal it starts with a heading carrying the site name, continues with a short summary and lists links grouped into sections.
Google says no special file or markup is required for its AI features. llms.txt is aimed more at tools such as ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity, helping them build context quickly; it is not a ranking guarantee.
The tool reads your homepage and sitemap, takes the title and description of up to 20 key pages and groups them by URL structure. Secondary content such as blog posts goes into the Optional section defined by llmstxt.org. The result is a draft you can edit.
No. The address is used only to read public pages and is not kept. Our server reads public pages only; internal network and local addresses are refused.
