Type or paste your text and the counts update as you go: words, characters including spaces, characters without spaces, sentences and paragraphs. Accented letters and emoji count as one character each; every group of characters separated by a space counts as one word.
The word count is divided by an average silent reading speed of 200 words a minute. Real reading time depends on the reader and how difficult the text is, so treat it as a guide for blog posts and talks.
Google does not publish a fixed character limit; it cuts titles and descriptions to fit the screen width. That is why the preview measures width in pixels rather than characters, using roughly 600 pixels for a desktop title and 920 pixels for a description.
Not directly, but whatever falls after the cut is invisible to the searcher. Put the search term and the most important information at the start of the title and description.
